BLOW IN an exhibition by Kim Donaldson A 'blow in' is an Australian expression describing a person who arrives in a place for no particular reason and has the potential of leaving just as unaccountably. In the country town where she lives in Australia Kim Donaldson is a 'blow in'. She was not born there and has no family connections. She will always be from 'elsewhere' and brings a past from another place and resides there in a present that exists regardless of that past. This is Donaldson's second visit to Poland. She is a 'blow in' there as well. For this exhibition remnants of her past create a new now. These giant fragments, made of paint and canvas, collide on the gallery floor like rubbish that blows in from the street and gathers in a corner. There is a photo and a drawing on a scrap piece of paper from her previous visit to Warsaw and from Australia one of her notes, a scribble from beside the phone of a friend, something found on the street and a few other items gathered along the way.
